Maddie

Maddie has been on quite the journey.

Hi, my name is Maddie.  I’m around 7-8 months old now and was rescued from Apple Valley Animal Shelter.  I had severe mange and tested positive for distemper but I am now mange-free and a distemper survivor.  I am in the process of getting fully vaccinated after my negative distemper test results and am scheduled to be spayed soon.   I had a bad beginning, but I am not scared of the world.  I am so curious and want to know everything.

I am great with people, dogs, and kids.  I haven’t met any other friends yet, but there isn’t a mean side to me.  I just want to play with everyone and everything.  I can go crazy with excitement at times and have zoomies all over the place, so I am definitely a high energy pup making up for lost time.  I will need plenty of exercise, like running, playing, walking, and running.  I am still trying to learn some good manners on the leash.  I am just too excited to be patient.  I haven’t tried swimming yet, but who knows, maybe I might be good at it.  I am great in car rides, way better than my foster siblings.

Besides my crazy moments, I can have some downtime too.  I love to cuddle, snuggle, and sleep with you.  I insist on sleeping in your bed, you know, what’s yours is mine.  I love playing with all toys, my foster siblings, my foster parents, and anything else that is willing to play.  I may growl when my siblings try to take the toy from me, but not in a vicious way.

I may have some bad habits with food.  I love it so much I can eat anything, I’m not picky.  I eat like I haven’t eaten in weeks.  I make a mess, kibble flying everywhere, but I do clean it up.  No kibble gets left behind.  I’ve learned not to growl at my brother and sister walking by, but I will try to take their food any chance I get.

I am house-broken.  We have a doggy door so I can go in and out whenever I please.  I do love to go out on occasion to sunbathe on the cot.

I need a home with another dog, to play with and to learn some manners from.  I don’t like being home without my hoomans so I may chew something if I get bored, so don’t leave me for a long time.  Make sure to leave me toys or with something to keep my attention.  I am still young and learning my ways, so I do have a lot of manners to learn.
